Meters and More was pleased to participate as Plus Visibility Sponsor at the fifth edition of Recanati Smart Land, held on 25–26 June in Recanati, Italy.

Over the years, Recanati Smart Land has become an important forum for dialogue on the energy transition, bringing together institutions, regulators, utilities, technology providers, research organisations, universities and industry representatives to exchange views on the future of the energy system. The 2026 edition was dedicated to energy flexibility, with discussions focusing on electric mobility, energy communities, smart management of loads and storage systems, and the digital technologies enabling these developments.

As part of the conference programme, Carlo Maria Drago, General Manager of Meters and More, delivered a presentation entitled “Enabling technologies and solutions for energy flexibility.” His speech explored how open communication technologies, interoperability and data exchange can support demand-side flexibility and contribute to the development of smarter, more resilient and efficient electricity systems.

The conference was opened by Luigi Mandolini, CEO of MAC, who reflected on the evolution of Recanati Smart Land into a multidisciplinary platform where different stakeholders can work together on concrete solutions for the energy transition. In his opening remarks, he highlighted how the increasing deployment of renewable generation, electric vehicles, heat pumps, storage systems and other connected technologies is fundamentally changing the way electricity systems operate. Rather than being viewed simply as additional demand, these resources can become valuable assets when managed intelligently.

Mandolini also stressed that energy flexibility is no longer just a technical concept but a strategic resource for the future of the energy system. Unlocking its full potential requires smart grids, reliable data, interoperable devices, common standards, accessible markets and coherent regulatory frameworks. He further highlighted the role of technologies such as second-generation smart meters, Chain 2 communications and the Charging Infrastructure Controller (CIR) in enabling greater interaction between consumers, energy operators and the electricity grid.

These messages closely align with the mission of Meters and More, which continues to promote open and interoperable communication technologies as key enablers of the digital energy transition.

Meters and More would like to thank MAC Italia and the entire organising team for another successful edition of Recanati Smart Land and for providing a valuable opportunity to strengthen dialogue and collaboration across the energy ecosystem.
